Me & Ro

Me&Ro’s art is a continuation of the timeless practice of borrowing forms from nature to adorn the human body and to communicate through jewelry. Of equal importance is the power jewelry has to express the human values of strength, love, and faith.

The first pieces were conceived as gifts for close friends and Me&Ro designs continue to embody the personal intentions of those originals. Emphasizing the wearability of its designs, Me&Ro opts for subtlety over showiness, pursuing an aesthetic of simple beauty. Me&Ro’s sophisticated designs showcase the natural beauty of the materials used. Integrating precious (diamonds, rubies, sapphires), unusual ( Basra pearls, Indian rose-cut diamonds, cat’s-eye chrysoberyl) and semi-precious (iolite, garnet, labradorite, moonstone, etc.) stones.

Michele and Robin create all original pieces by carving in wax or fabricating in metal. These molds are then cast in silver, gold, and platinum, and hand polished to a unique matte finish. All precious and semi-precious stones are individually set by hand. Known for their stackable rings, loads of colorful bangles, tiny hoops and precious pendants, Me&Ro’s innovative jewelry sells throughout the United States, Europe and Japan.

-Michele Quan-

Canadian Michele Quan moved to New York City in 1984 to study graphic design at Parsons. She met Renzi in the 1980s when they were both waiting tables at the restaurant Indochine. In 1986, Quan became the first model at Women Model Management. In the course of her six-year career in fashion, she appeared on the pages of Glamour, Mademoiselle, Vogue, and Italian and French Vogue, as well on runways in Milan, New York and Paris. Through her friendship with Renzi, Quan became enamored with the art and craft of jewelry design.

-Robin Renzi-
New Yorker Robin Renzi has been making jewelry since she was in high-school, a craft which she continued to perfect while working towards a Dance and Education degree at the University of Massachusetts. Moving to New York City in 1984, she continued to design jewelry for herself and friends while studying ballet and modern dance. She performed in such avant-garde downtown theaters as The Kitchen, and in a number of music videos including Steve Winwood's award winning Higher Love video. Me&Ro began in the back of her Elizabeth Street apartment in the summer of 1991.
